The Bigger Nova Scotia Export Story

What's inside: On the heels of celebrating the new Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards, this issue of The Insider takes a closer look at the ever-growing number of Nova Scotia companies exporting, discovering diverse opportunities, and dispelling myths surrounding export. We also talk to wineries in the province about finding success in China, and explore how Nova Scotia companies are digitally transforming sustainable mobility in oceans, further cementing our partnership in Canada’s Ocean Supercluster. Knowing that a key component of exporting is promoting products and services to online target audiences, we share some of our social media insights on how to properly use hashtags. It’s never been a more exciting time to be a Nova Scotia exporter. Though our traditional exports like lobster, fish, and fir trees continue to thrive, there’s more to the Nova Scotia export story.

Social Media Tips
NSBI clients routinely ask us about social media, and how to properly use hashtags when they are thinking about promoting their products to specific target audiences online.

A hashtag is a search. They’re meant to label a topic or filter conversation. Using a hashtag for your sector or industry is a way to show up in search results for that hashtag. For example, if you sell oysters, you should add #oysters to your messaging. If you want to be specific with the market, use #novascotiaoysters.
